Mozilla Firefox

Even though I run the front-end of an e-commerce site for a living, I generally I don’t talk much about software. My overall feeling is that there are much better sources than me, and to be honest, it’s not as much fun for me to write about geeky things.

But I’ll break with that pattern today to mention that I am finally free of IE as a browser. The fact that Netscape totally dropped the ball in the browser wars led me into the hands of Microsoft. I didn’t want to go there, but there were too many features in IE that made it easier for me to do my job on a daily basis.

The original Mozilla showed promise, but not enough that I ended up switching. But lo and behold, here comes Firefox, the next generation browser from Mozilla – and I am finanally free of IE (except to check my work – you always have to look at things with multiple browsers).

What do I like about Firefox?

Tab-Browsing (yay)
Integrated Popup Blocking
Multiple Integrated Search boxes
mplified User Interface
Much faster load time that other browsers
Ability to view selected source (a must for web developers and designers)
Best of all, the Edit CSS plugin that allows me to experiment in real time with the Style Sheet of any site.
